CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH IS A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN FOREVER-CHANGED BY THE GOSPEL.

We gather together on a regular basis for worship, discipleship, and fellowship. We are followers of Jesus Christ who are actively working to fulfill the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:34-40) and the Great Assignment (Matthew 28:18-20).

HISTORY

Calvary Baptist Church was started in June of 1967. Pastor Delford Day, our founding pastor, had become burdened to start a fundamental Baptist church in Chatfield after driving through Chatfield a number of years prior and realizing that no Baptist church existed. Meetings were first held in the Interstate Power Company Building on Main Street in downtown Chatfield. There were eighteen charter members.

Soon after the church began meeting, our current property, on Winona Street, was purchased and the basement of our present building was built in 1969. The upper portion (above the basement) was finished in 1976. Additions were added to the existing building in 1992 and the latest one in 2009.

Over the years, a total of nine men have served as pastor or interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church.

In November of 2015, Mike Gittins was called to be the lead pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.
